Truly Mobile Office

Especially when starting out, it is wise to have everything you need to set up shop in one briefcase, backpack or laptop bag. If you are like me, you need a one-stop mobile office. My KnackPack is exactly that for me. Yes, this is a shameless plug for a backpack, but stick with me here, you know I know what is good.

I often have to go back and forth from one city to the next so this is my office and home sometimes. It is water-resistant, fits my 15” laptop and keeps my water bottle safe in a discreet location so I don’t look like I am going camping when I am on my way to the office.

This is just what I carry around on an average day, not when I am traveling. Being ready to get to the business at a moment’s notice is very impressive to my attorneys and clients.

Being able to work anywhere at a moment’s notice is the only way I can stay on top of everything.

Paralegal Power Is Always On Duty

I feel so lucky to be able to work and live in an era where I can access all the things I need to draft pleadings, do research and get documents filed in a backpack. I grew up in the ‘80s and if my dad could, he would tell you all I ever wanted for my birthday was a backpack like Penny from Inspector Gadget.

The little girl from the cartoon had a backpack that had, what by today’s standards is obviously an iPad, and without the backpack and her smartwatch, she had no powers. That is how I feel without my KnackPack, wowsers.

Keep It Moving

But once I need to get on a plane, I just extend out the bottom and I have room for at least a couple of outfits. I don’t like having to pay for a checked bag. If the stewardess gives me a hard time because I carry a big purse as well, my KnackPack has little pockets to tuck the straps like magic (or common sense) to comply with the carry-on requirements.

The laptop storage is accessible by just unzipping the side of the bag too. So I can quickly unload my laptop when I am getting through security without unloading anything else. This has been a game-changer for me.

Set Up Shop @ the Coffee Shop

When I am in Omaha, I am largely working at Sozo’s, my favorite coffee shop. It is so cool, I can rent a study room for $2 an hour. I load all my documents and whatever books I may be reading into my KnackPack and I can just set up shop right at the coffee shop.

On my last trip before I had my KnackPack I was always carrying around an extra box of documents or an extra carry-on (which costs me money and time). I love having one bag for everything. That’s their motto, “one bag life.”
